About Riverstone

If you or someone close to you has ever had a great counseling experience, then you already know what a powerful and transformative experience it can be. Great counseling can help you overcome problems that you once thought were insurmountable. It can help you feel connected to life and the world around you, and it can empower you to live in a more meaningful, intentional, and purposeful way.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find great counseling. For many years I’ve worked with clients who’ve shared their stories of past disappointments and frustrations trying to find a great counselor. Sometimes this is because they’ve felt judged, poorly understood, or disconnected from their counselors. Other times they’ve sensed a lack of professionalism from their counselor or perceived that they’re being treated with a one-size-fits-all approach to counseling.

Everything at Riverstone Counseling is designed to give our clients a great counseling experience. We built our practice on the foundation of incorporating everything we know that works best in counseling and eliminating the things that don’t. You can expect to work with a highly trained counselor that you can connect with, who understands you, and can help you get where you want to go.

Randy Moate, Ph.D., LPCC (Ohio), LPC (Texas)

For the past 10 years I’ve worked as a professional counselor and professor who teaches students to become professional counselors.

These experiences have taught me how to connect with people from all walks of life, to know what works and does not work in counseling, and how to create positive experiences for my clients.

I specialize in working with anxiety, chronic stress, depression, grief, loss, and difficult life transitions (e.g., divorce, career changes, strained relationships with friends and family).

I don’t believe in cookie-cutter approaches to counseling, because no two clients are alike. My approach to working with clients is unique to them and their presenting concerns. During a counseling session I am fully present with my clients, creating a warm, calming, non-judgmental atmosphere where they feel seen and heard. I walk alongside my clients to help them to overcome problems and unlock their potential. My expertise lies in drawing out the inner strengths and resources my clients already possess—they just haven’t realized it yet.

It’s my goal to empower clients to change into the person they want to become.
